Tough

This book is tough if you are learning it for the first time. It assumes you know much more than you do. The homework problems require you to take big leaps from what is covered in the text. If you need references for certain materials and their properties they are often not in the book, requiring you to search outside material. I spent hours on 1-2 homework problems because the information I needed to answer it simply wasn't in the book. I bought the Knight textbook a bit into the semester, and it literally cut my study time to about a quarter of what I was spending. If your professor wants to use this book, buy the Knight physics book to supplement your studying. It will fill in the gaps in an understandable way.

ZERO STARS IF I COULD! The best way to ruin your GPA!

Allow me to preface that I am a 3.5 GPA engineering student who enjoys and does well in calculus and physics. This review is based on my experience in Engineering Physics I & II:

Ahem,
If your professor uses this book, or any others in this abysmal "Six Ideas" series, DROP THE CLASS AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK! This book sends me into a fit of four lettered frustration. This book literally makes me too angry to learn. Please, please, please for the love of all that is holy, do not take any class that uses this piece of crap for a textbook. If you're at a 4 year university and this is the only book that any of your physics classes use, take your physics classes at a local JuCo. Who cares if the JuCo is further away! The money/time you'll save by not bombing your physics class and lowering your GPA will be well worth it.

E & M is not the most intuitive concept, especially when you are first exposed to it, but a book this bad is beyond explanation. Examples: Formulas that appear in the beginning of the chapter do not match the formulas given later in the text. Things like k, Q, rho, epsilon not, mu not are never fully explained but just left for you to hunt down in the conversion tables. Mag (B) fields are never left in Teslas (as is customary) but turned into a convoluted mess because the author mistakenly believes that by multiplying them by a speed of light constant, he will make them easier to understand (in terms of B-bar). Lastly, (and most frustrating), there are NO ANSWERS in the back of this or any books in this series. It's like this book is a half-written rough draft. I can only imagine how bad this "book" was before the revision.

I have literally learned more from kahnacademy and MIT E&M lecture videos on youtube and they are free!

Bad book all around

I am writing this review halfway through the semester because I have absolutely no faith left in this book. I was required to buy it through my school and I would have rather spent my money on anything else besides this. The book is just not clear at all, it gets way too wordy and takes several pages to explain even the simplest of concepts. Even when these concepts are explained they are poorly done, leaving the reader terribly confused. I urge anyone that is going to buy this book not too. If your class is requiring you to buy this book, try and find another class that uses a different book. I am midway through the semester and don't even remotely understand one concept in this book (I am a 3.0 student in college so I am not stupid), take my advice now so you don't have to suffer through a whole semester like I do!

It looks at the role of stamps and signatures and how these can inform the study of when and by whom the tegulae were made. It analyses how the tiles were fitted onto pitched roofs, how these roofs were constructed and proposes four stages in their evolution. It suggests that tegulae might also have been used on some vaulted roofs. Finally the logistics, costs and economics of tile manufacture and distribution are addressed. The book follows a logical sequence considering first how tegulae were manufactured, next their typology and then their dating in order to prepare the ground for the subsequent chapters on stamps and roof construction. The final chapter brings all the evidence together to examine the economic and social data that can be derived from a study of tegulae, grouped together as a single site. In contrast, where a useful assemblage of tiles has come from an individual site within a town, this has been identified separately from other assemblages within the same town. If these separate assemblages within the same towns are aggregated together then the number of individual sites falls from 104 to 85.

Great information & pictures

Very informative book covering literally everything about Killifish, the book is written in a very useful and detailed way but also in a writing style that is very easy to understand and learn from. I've read a few books related to these kind of fish but none of the others have even came close to the usefulness found in these pages.

One of the main things that I really admire about this book are the mass amount of very colorful and high quality photographs that are incorporated into different chapters of the book, they add a great visual aid to the information and it helped me understand the topics that are discussed in great detail. These fish are fascinating and the book answered all my questions that I had previously about them

Great introductory book on killifish

Although I've raised tropical fish for 40+ years I've never had killifish.. This book is a great introductory text that lays out all aspects of keeping them; buying them online, or raising them from eggs. The illustrations are numerous and well done. One of the best introductory books on any subject I've ever bought. Totally recommend for the beginning killikeeper.

About the Author
Leon Leyson fue uno de los miembros más jóvenes de La lista de Schindler. Él trae una perspectiva única a la historia del Holocausto y un poderoso mensaje de coraje y humanidad. Ultimately, it was the generosity and cunning of one man, a man named Oskar Schindler, who saved Leon Leyson s life, and the lives of his mother, his father, and two of his four siblings, by adding their names to his list of workers in his factory a list that became world renowned: Schindler s List.

Es un libro que te atrapa desde la primera página, de muy fácil lectura. Es muy importante conocer la historia para entender el presente y sinceramente es bueno conocer esta etapa vergonzosa de Europa y del mundo pues hicieron muy poco, a mucho les resulto mas fácil mirar a otro lado e ignorar lo que ocurría y lo lamentable es que vemo que pasa de nuevo aunque no de la magnitud de lo que sufrieron los judios en la segunda guerra mundial porque en realidad la guerra fue para su exterminio. Por eso mismo es admirable que dentro del mismo nazismo salió quien se arriesgó su vida, fortuna por proteger a los que pudo.
Lo recomiendo como lectura obligatoria. Cinco estrellas para el excelente libro

Frank N. Pieke is a Lecturer in Modern Politics and the Society of China at the University of Oxford, and is a Fellow of St Cross College. His previous publications include The Ordinary and the Extraordinary: An Anthropological Study of Chinese Reform and the 1989 People's Movement in Beijing (1996) and he was the co-author of Transnational Chinese: Fujianese Migrants in Europe (2004).
