The photos were well lit, the model had nice musculature if you need to practice, and some of the photos were at slightly different angles.

It's a okay book to take a quick look at with unlimited, but I didn't like the poses, and the same white background on them all got annoying really fast.

The Basics of Public Budgeting and Financial Management offers basic budgeting and financial management skills that can be easily grasped by undergraduates, graduates, and practitioners. It is a great tool for helping students understand budgeting from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Not only are students provided with a rich understanding of theory, they are given hands-on experience with developing, justifying, and defending budgets, all of which are integral to bridging theory and practice.
Each chapter contains questions that require application of the materials learned as well as exercises to help students improve their analytical, decision-making, and written communication skills. The book also provides partially filled Excel spreadsheets which are instrumental in providing students an opportunity to acquire experience in revenue estimation and budget preparation. Last, the book is accompanied with power point presentations and an instructor’s manual which further makes the course easier to teach. (LaShonda M. About the Author
Charles E. Menifield is a public administration professor and associate dean in the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri. He previously served as professor and interim director for the Division of Public and Nonprofit Administration at the University of Memphis. He was also a senior visiting scholar at the Congressional Budget Office and an Associate Professor at Mississippi State University. He is the author of four books and thirty three published journal articles and book chapters. For the last seventeen years he has taught budgeting and financial management courses and is actively involved in the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management.

Learn the Basics of the Governmental Budgeting Process

This was one of the textbooks used for a Governmental Budgeting and Finance course I completed as a Public Administration student. This is a great book that well explains the aspects of the budgeting process for city, county, and state governments. Menifield also well explains the step by step process of developing a budget. This book is a keeper for the Public Administration library.

John Moran is a consultant with Profitable Dairy Systems, located in Kyabram, Victoria. His specialist fields include dairy production, ruminant nutrition, calf and heifer rearing, forage conservation and whole farm business management. In 2013, he was appointed as the Coordinator of the Asia Dairy Network, an international agency position to facilitate communication and collaboration of dairy industries from 15 countries throughout South and East Asia. Since 1999, he has initiated and conducted training programs on small holder dairy production to farmers, advisers and policy makers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and East Timor. His books include Tropical Dairy Farming, Calf Rearing, Heifer Rearing and Forage Conservation, and he has also published more than 200 research and extension articles and written several farmer manuals on cattle nutrition.

A great book to teach some basic Spanish vocabulary

As a Spanish teacher in an elementary school, I use this book to help teach describing words. The children love how the elephant and giraffe make silly changes to their appearance; it holds their interest in the story and helps them learn the material. At the end of the story they clearly recognize the lesson: you don't need to change who you are because friends like you just the way you are!

Mostly Q & A format

This books repeats what you will see on a typical Java tutorial book in Q&A format, therefore not systematical enough for learning Java. It may help one preparing a Java job interview, but bear in mind most job interviews are about experience and ability, which is far beyond what this book covers. Even within the Java field, the scope of the book is not broad enough. There is no discussion on threads, on databases, on web and UI, or any of the JEE features. The only usage is perhaps helping you review core Java concepts, but why not use the classical Joshua Bloch for that, which is more insightful and original.

A Good Remedial Guide

Japanese for Professionals has proved to be an ideal book for me. I have 4 years of formal Japanese study and lived in Japan for 2 years. However, over the past 5 years I have not been using Japanese. This book is helping me review and practice for potential work in Japan. Just what I need to get back on track.
If you do not have extensive experience in Japanese (understand how to read kanji, etc.) this book may be too advanced. Even still, it provides good vocabulary explanations, so you may be able to use it.
Content covers all the basics, such as formal introductions, as well as helpful ideas for document writing and the like.

The vocabulary and expressions are useful, explained well, and put into many different contexts so that you become familiar with them. It is a great book to have handy if you are an intermediate student headed into the business world, or an advanced one wanting to review. It would have been perfect if it had come with a CD!

A Book for Business Japanese

For every student of Japanese their comes the time where you are looking for some more advanced textbooks to handle business Japanese. This book helps with good text examples and clauses and if you work in a company you will have to cover topics like introduction, telephone calls, asking and requesting and the book will help to fill those gaps. The vocabulary in each section help to encourage the learning and the English explanations making sure to understand the context and therefore it is a good bridge between an advanced Japanese book and a standard learning book. A prerequisite is that you should be able to recognize an amount of kanjis otherwise it takes far more time to work through this book. I hope for the next revision of this book the publisher will make a CD available.

This book presents numerous examples of interactions between Indian music and the West since the 18 th century. The book is organized into chronologically ordered chapters, starting in the late Eighteenth century, proceeding through the Nineteenth century, the early Twentieth century and the late Twentieth century. It includes a discography for the late Twentieth century chapter, as well as an extensive list of sources and bibliography. The book is scholarly in style, and well footnoted. Nevertheless, the text is quite engaging throughout.
The coverage of the material is in some places overly general, going beyond musical topics to such issues as race relations and colonialism. Early in the book, Farrell briefly discusses Edward Said's "Orientalism", and some parts of this book examine Orientalism in music in light of some of Said's ideas. On the other hand, other parts of the book are quite detailed, even discussing individual concerts that took place 100 years ago. This juxtaposition of general comments and details feels at times as if the book was actually written as individual papers, to be published separately, rather than as one long coherent work. In contrast to the broad title, the text focuses mostly on Hindustani classical music, although Carnatic classical music is occasionally mentioned, as well as film music
Farrell's discussions center around the lack of understanding of Hindustani music displayed by British and American audiences and musicians. He describes how British colonialists tried to transcribe Indian music in the Eighteenth century, how British and American audiences couldn't distinguish between fake and authentic Indian music, and how rock musicians tried to play sitar without any understanding of Indian music. He puzzles over why only jazz and rock musicians have experimented with Indian music, and not classical musicians, and why Indian classical music has been interesting to fans of world music, but not Indian pop music. I don't find such issues so mysterious- -after all, classical music is by definition based on a conventional standard, so we wouldn't expect experimentation with Indian music by Western classical musicians. On the other hand, world music fans want to hear something new and different. Indian classical music is certainly different, but Indian pop music, even though it might use some traditional instruments or rhythms, sounds too much like pop music everywhere else to be particularly interesting to outsiders.
I find other facets of the interactions between the West and Indian music to be much more interesting, such as the possible historical links between many classical Western music instruments and classical Indian instruments (the nagaswaram and the oboe, for instance, or the sitar, oud, and guitar). Or the willingness of Indian classical musicians and their audiences to adopt new instruments from the West, such as the violin, saxophone, mandolin, or even Hawaiian steel guitar. Since they are adopting these instruments into their own classical tradition, it seems very different from Western rock musicians experimenting with sitar. From the title of this book, I expected at least some exploration into issues such as these, but Farrell never mentions them.
