I'm holding my breath for the next book in the series!!!!! I can't wait!

I am so happy I read this book.
First, I would like to say I don't give spoilers. You usually you get enough from other reviews, and the blurb. This book can hold up very well on its own as a stand alone, but remember that it is a part of a series. If you are like me, and like to catch up with old friends than you can certainly do that in the 3rd installment of K.J. Jackson's Hold Your Breath Series.
'My Captain My Earl' has it all. This book contains action, had riveting multidimensional MC'S, and secondary characters, romance, humor, family, friendships, deceit, secrets, heartbreak, love, and much more!
As I said the characters were all multidimensional. The MC's were both relatable, learned, and grew throughout the book. The secondary characters were a wonderful addition to the story, and did not hinder or distract from it. Each character had a significant role in the story. The writing was smooth, flowed well, and had no bumps to distract you.
I was extremely surprised to find the MC's in love so early into the reading. Ahh, but the twists and turns in this wonderful story took me away to a different time and place. The descriptions are so vivid I felt as though I was there every step of the way! I felt sea spray on my face. I felt hunger, and despair. Every pleasant happenstance I was there to witness it, and feel it. Every miserable situation, I was there with them sharing their despair! Ms. Jackson was able to take me away from reality for a bit.
I read the book from start to finish! I need to say that K. J. Jackson has quickly become one of my favorite authors! I stumbled upon her very first trilogy, which is a totally different genre. I absolutely loved it, and I'll read those books many times! I then saw the first novel in her new historical romance, 'Hold Your Breath' series. I will admit that I was sceptical that she could pull it off. As I said before her first books were a totally different genre, and since I am a seriously avid reader I've noticed that it is difficult for a lot of authors to cross into a different genre successfully. Ms. Jackson did it in spades! She totally Rocked It!
So, would I recommend this author? Absolutely, and I have! Would I read more works by this author? I'm already waiting for her next work regardless of genre! Her books are well worth the money, you won't regret it! You will want to go back and read them again! You should definitely read this series if you like historical romance. If you like different genres, you should check out her first trilogy. Totally original, and I loved it!
The only negative sort of thing I can think of is that in this novel there were a few words that were incorrect. For example: wordy instead of worldly, and ears instead of years. That's all I can think of, and I wrote those down or I would never have remembered them. Happy Reading Everyone!

captain, my captain, oh my...

4 1/2 stars! I received this as an ARC from the author but my review is my own and am under no obligation to write anything but my own thoughts. That said, having read some of Ms. Jackson's paranormal works & loving them, I felt sure I would at least like her writing in this time era romance. Pirates with a twist! Yum! This one features a heroine who is very strong & in unusual circumstances. I loved Jace. He was a man! Oh my, a man who listens!! A man who looks at the heart! The kind of man I would want in my life, really. A man worth dying for. A heroine he would die for. Although there were some typical type misunderstandings (my half star deduction) there were some surprises in this book. I fell in love with it. I've struggled trying to finish only because of my own vision problems but it was the only book I wanted. I was so caught up in the story, I even dreamed about it and myself thinking of it all day. I loved that this was about LOVE, not insta lust, no story but just fall into bed. It's awesome to have just enough sensual scenes to whet the imagination w/o going overboard. I love that it's not the smut written in most romances today bordering on rated X.. Thank you Ms. JACKSON for a most pleasurable read and I'm looking forward to the next in the series plus any other genre you decide to write in! A good one & a keeper.

I absolutely loved!!

First I have to say that I have never read about pirates before and would never have thought to. This, I absolutely loved!!!!!!! I honestly could not put it down. This is the third in the series but the first for me and it definitely is a standalone with a HEA. The relationship between the main characters was difficult at times, which just makes it more believable. In my eyes you can't go wrong with a strong female lead. Loads of action, passion and great supporting characters. Thank you Ms. Jackson for a great read.

Love, love, love!!

One of my absolute favorite books! Kevyn Aucoin is a makeup genius!! I purchased the paperback in good used condition and it's perfect! I love the vintage feel I get from it, but the condition is as good as new! Would recommend to any makeup artist or enthusiast! Lots of great ideas and just a really cool book to have! I love keeping mine on my coffee table, I have all 3 of his books and they always spark up a great conversation when I have friends over! Find my review helpful? Please click "helpful". Fun Guide for Makeup Enthusiants

I am not nor do I aspire to be a professional makeup artist. I saw this book at friend's house in the 1990's and had flipped through it and later noticed something about this friend...she was plain looking. Until we went out on the town. One night she looked like Marilyn Monroe, the next she looked like some other movie star. I remembered this book years later, and put it together that she was likely using the book as a guide to achieve looks so different than her natural one.

Sure people say 'he says he's not using makeup but I can see makeup on the face' and other lines, but as far as creating fun looks with step-by-step instructions with photos for reference I think this book is fantastic. It would look great on my coffee table, but it normally resides on my vanity where I use it often!

Beautiful book, excellent tutorials - so much fun to read!!

This is a beautiful book. Physically, it is large and is filled with gorgeous photographs of different make up looks, tutorials, models, etc. It's a great coffee table book even if you are not into make up technique. That said, I bought this book for the make up tutorials and was so happy to find that it is so much more - Aucoin gives a great introduction and the beginning of the book focuses on tools, face shapes, what looks best, etc. It's loaded with interesting information. Subsequent chapters break down different looks for different occasions. I am a make up and product junkie but really not the type to buy a book about it - which is so funny bc I have referenced this book a million times over the years for different ideas for fun events - New Year's, a masquerade party or just to switch things up a little. Everytime I open the cover, I find myself lingering over the book, engrossed again in old chapters.....definitely check this out if you are interested in make up application, techniques or seeing how one of the (late) great masters did it.

Amazing stuff!!

The most amazing thing about this book is the breadth, & depth of areas covered on the topics that are seriously misunderstood. The representation is simple, and the concepts include the information from the previous books of Matt Roberts. This book has all that it takes to create & deliver a high impact, working fitness plan.

Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack in 1933, has deserved its place in classical Hollywood cinema for its spectacular special effects, which were completely new at the time and its introduction of the female scream to the horror picture. After more than 70 years, the movie has lost little of its fascination and film scholars have not grown tired of examing the metaphorical meaning of the ape-monster and the representation of blackness and whiteness in this Beauty and the Beast fable. In his article “Humanizing the Beast”, Thomas E. Wartenberg focusses on King Kong’s transgression from the stereotypical racist representation of the Black male sexual monster of Skull Island to the romantic hero in the New York sequence. He argues that the film reverts the racism constructed in its first half and uses the second half to propagate that “it is a mistake to see Black men as sexual monsters because they are human beings like all of us” (Wartenberg 175). Rather than rating the ape’s personality in the New York sequence as a positive depiction of Black masculinity, I would argue that the stereotypical representation of the sexually aggressive black male was merely transformed into another stereotype, namely the non-threatening, desexualized noble negro; the latter no longer possesses any evil character traits but is nonetheless destructed in his inferior weakness in order to restore white womanhood to its pedestal and reinforce white capitalist male power structures.
